Founder Ashley Duffus-Jambor has lived in the PNW all her life, and has been working in of the outdoor industry on and off for over a decade. She's particularly drawn to mountain biking above all her other pursuits, and spends nearly all her free time on singletrack. However, she hasn't always been that way.

Ashley’s got a size 24 booty and believe it or not, bike apparel brands don’t make anything for bodies that fall outside your standard 2-12 range. And if they do, they certainly lack in technical performance and aesthetic. What happened to…”The outdoors are for everyone?”

For years she let the trajectory of her life be shaped by the outdoor apparel industry telling her she couldn’t do something...and that she didn't fit the mold. After realizing that clothing was deterring her from spending time on her bike, Ashley set out to make sure clothing never prevented anyone else from doing what they love. Since then she’s poured her heart and soul into developing a brand and creating a world where everyone can be a mountain athlete, no matter the size of your hips or thighs.

Enter Cosmic Dirt.

Why us? Because we’ve been there. We’ve said no to doing what we love because we can’t find clothes that fit. And we’re tired of being shut out from sports like mountain biking because the gear doesn’t cover our asses, literally. We know the struggle all too well and we’re here to put it to rest, for good. #DeathToBodySizeBarriers

With a little bit of help from fate, our team came together at the end of 2020 when Ashley met Heather organically on Instagram. Talk about kismet! Heather had been bitching about the selection of mountain biking shorts for years and when the universe conspired to bring her and Ashley together, it seemed obvious that the pair were destined to do something rad. They quickly uncovered a shared desire to make the cycling world a better place, and that their choices in aesthetic, function, and ethical values all lined up. Heather now manages operations and the behind the scenes stuff that truly makes Cosmic Dirt function.

Behind The Name.

We wanted a name that adequately portrayed who we are: spiritually inclined women who believe in manifesting your dreams and allowing the universe to take you where you need to go, in life and in recreation, like it did for us! The name Cosmic Dirt might have come out of a (truly magic) name generator on the internet, but it immediately spoke to our souls, and we knew it was right.
